Gino Mayaute is a bilingual (Spanish/English) dance artist entrepreneur and PhD Candidate at The University of Queensland. Gino applies academic knowledge and research to Latin American dance practices. He has 20 years of professional dance experience within diverse cultural contexts. His postgraduate research lies at the crossroads of Cultural Studies, Dance Studies and Migration Studies. The investigation will explore the social engagement of salsa performance as to give insights on how these practices could contribute to the well-being and health of a diverse population in Australia.
